“I hate your city. It has standardized all the beauty out of life. It is one big railroad station — with all the people taking tickets for the best cemetaries.”
Sinclair Lewis, Babbit, 1922

Autumn.
Cincinnati

Wes Anderson has released a short film, Hotel Chevalier, a prologue to his new movie The Darjeeling Limited. Notable features include Natalie Portman with her short hair and, on a more scandalous note, sans clothes.

A wonderful, albeit lengthy, article on the Leica, which has reminded me how badly I want one, and Matthew Haughey’s blog Ten Years of My Life features some great photography and is definately worth a look.

In the Middle of Grand Central Station
Grand Central Station

This is a shot that I’ve wanted to take for years. I know its something of a cliche, but I just couldn’t stand in that spot and not take a photograph; I felt that way a lot when I was in New York. There was something about the place that made me feel alive and gave me a sense of vitality – it inspired me just to look around and take it all in.

New York is so somehow familiar even to the first-time visitor, if only because of it’s prominence in popular culture. Many times I stood somewhere and imagined all the times I’d seen it in movies, television shows, and magazines, but of course in person it was different. When I stood in Times Square, the atrium of the Guggenheim, Rockefeller Center, I could feel the life of the city pulsing around me, and that is something that nothing can adequately recreate. Needless to say, I can’t wait to go back.

Stay tuned, more NYC photos and stories coming soon!

Business Card

I believe the title of the post is self-explanatory. The corners of the card will be rounded.

I’m pretty excited, to be honest.
